NASA's
LCROSS mission
impacted the Moon Friday morning in search of water in the shadows of lunar South Pole crater Cabeus. While the lack of a visible flash or plume was disappointing to many, scientists are still analyzing data from spacecraft and ground based observatories which may yet reveal significant scientific results. Significant amounts of water, especially in the lunar polar regions would also be helpful to future human activities on or near the Moon.
